Implicit in the earning of the CCDA (Cisco Certified Design Associate) certification is that the candidates have apprentice knowledge of network design for the Cisco Internetwork Infrastructure.

What are the compulsory exams to earn credit towards CCDA?

Candidates who wish to become a CCDA must pass the DESGN 640-861 exam. In preparation for this exam candidates are advised to also do the training course Designing for Cisco Internetwork Solutions (DESGN). (Please note that the training course is a recommendation.) This training course is available from Cisco Bootcamp.

What can be done in terms of Recertification for CCDA?

The certification validity period is three years. Certification will thus be required.

Any of the exams that bear the 642 prefix will count towards recertification at the CCDA level.
